I think I could spend all of January doing all of the posts that I’ve thought that I would like to do this week.  This week is definitely packed for our family.

Here are a few short things I wanted to write down.

Annie is pulling up on everything she can find and cruising the furniture.  One of her favorite things to do: help unload the dishwasher.  She also learned to clap a couple of days ago.  Adam and I were on a date for our anniversary and when we got back my grandma said she had been doing patty cake with her.  Now she claps if she sees other people clapping or just for fun which is so cute to me because Hyrum was much older when he finally learned this one.

A couple of Hyrum moments:

Hyrum was playing with his new playdough set when he stopped to go find his coat and put it on.  Then he informed me me that he was going to take his "playdough noodles to the neighbors."  He had carefully prepared a little plate of playdough to give to our next door neighbors.  He even got his socks and shoes and he was so set on taking his special treat to them.  It was so sweet.  We had seen them leave earlier and eventually convinced him that they weren’t home, much to his disappointment.

Hyrum has a new fascination with "bad guys."  He decided that his little black car that he put a bandaid on because it go in a crash is the "bad guy car."  Adam has a Darth Vader ornament and Hyrum says we have a bad guy on our tree.  He also says bad guys "have life savers and they shoot people with them and they’re not very nice !"  I’ve tried to dissuade him from this fascination but to no avail.  The other day he told me he was a bad guy.  I told him he wasn’t so he said, "You’re a bad guy."  I said "I hope not.  I hope we’re good guys."  But then he went on, "You’re a bad guy and daddy’s a bad buy and Annie is a bad guy girl."  That made me laugh so he added, "And Hyrum is a bad guy boy."

Hyrum turned 3 yesterday!  How did he get this big?  He’s not slowing down either!  We had a really fun day and Hyrum was such a good boy all day long.  I don’t like the idea of "terrible two’s" but I’ve also thought wouldn’t it be nice if he turned three and suddenly we didn’t have problems like screaming tantrums in the grocery store?  So far so good.

Hopefully I’ll find time to do more of those posts that are floating around in my head soon.

So a week ago BYU broadcasting sent me an email with a link to where they are sharing some wonderful music videos from Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concerts and from episodes of Music and the Spoken Word.  We have been enjoying them a lot, and thought that you might too!

You can find it at http://byub.org/christmas/

I also thought that last Sundays Music and the Spoken word was also very nice, I loved the narrative about the song I heard the bells on Christmas day.  You can find it at http://Byu.tv, wait for the site to load, choose Dec 14th from the option of what day, and choose the 9:30 episode of Music and the Spoken Word.

Enjoy, I think it is the best Christmas music you will find anywhere.

P. S. Here is another Christmas song and some beautiful pictures that is only a few minutes long, but that I really like: http://www.joytoeveryone.com ~Laura

Merry Christmas everyone!

It has been another wonderful year for us, but as always it is a busy season for us.  If you don’t hear from us know that we love you and wish you a merry christmas. (All within a week we have Christmas, our 5 year anniversary, Hyrums birthday, and New Years to celebrate.)

What we did with Adam’s parents (the highlights):

~Ate lots of good food.  Definitely a theme to their visits.  And even though this time we ate at home instead of eating out a lot like we usually do (their treat), we still seem to have somehow ended up with more food than we had before they came.

~Succeeded in getting Annie to open her mouth for us to put baby food in it.  For some reason I had a feeling that she might open up while Grandma and Grandpa were here even though she usually rejects anything other than water and mama’s milk.  We didn’t try it until our last meal together, but what do you know, it worked.  We’re hoping she will remember that she liked it and let us feed it to her again.

~Took the kids to the mall, mostly so Hyrum could indulge his obsession with escalators.  And also to see Santa.  We tried to prepare Hyrum for Santa’s inevitable question, but not even Santa could get him to ask for anything specific.

"What do you want Santa to bring you for Christmas?"

"A present."

"What kind of a present?"

"Um… a green one."

"What do you want inside of it?"

"A present."

At least he made it easy for Santa to get it right.

~Watched some fun shows including Hyrum’s favorite "Sunday show" : Mr. Krueger’s Christmas (it’s his favorite regardless of the time of year).  We also watched "Horton Hears a Who" which may or may not have been the reason for this completely random statement:  Hyrum was playing with the shower door this morning and he said

"I’m gonna get in the shower.  Better watch out for elephants."
